Penny Black, Blackboard Style

Penny Black, Blackboard Style by judkajudy
.
The images are from Penny Black's transparent set "Touch of Whimsey" which I've had for awhile and haven't inked up! I love the white outline images against the black cardstock - blackboard style!

I made this card for homework assigned on the fourth day of the onlline card class Clean and Simple 2. I am so happy to be current in my assignments!!

Thanks for stopping by!!

It happened!!

I have been participating in challenges at the Hero Arts blog for about four years.  In the early days, when there were 1st, 2nd, 3rd places and Honorable Mentions, I won some 3rd places and HM's, but never a win!  Well, Hero Arts now selects five entries, twice monthly, as "Fabulous Five" winners.

I was surprised and excited to discover my ATC as a Fab Five winner for the first half of January!  And I now proudlyl display the Fab Five Blinkie on my blog!  Forgive what may appear as being immodest, but this Fab Five win has been on my bucket list for a long time!

And here's the ATC that made it happen:

Thanks for letting me share my happy news!

Love these little guys "hanging in there"! This is a clear set from Tiddly Inks and I fell in love with the little dogs.

I colored the images wtih Copic Markers and will enter this card in the current challenge at CASual Fridays to use markers to color.

There is nothing like new stamps to get you in the mood to play!!

Hope your day includes some time to play and I am so glad you stopped by.

Chilling Out!

100_4998 by judkajudy
The challenge word this week at CASology is "Drink". I used Hero Arts stamps from the clear set "Let's Chill" for both images and the sentiment. That's a Cuttlebug embossing folder creating the "bubbles" behind the drink!

The little bird and drink are colored with Copics. I put Glossy Accents on the sunglasses and the orange slice.

It's hard to imagine summer drinks and sunglasses with our weather finally behaving like January!! Sunny and in the thirty's today; cold for this part of the country!

Hope you are staying warm (or cool if you are "down under")! Thanks for stopping by!

Tiddly Inks

Tiddly Inks

">This image is from a set by Tiddly Inks that features their darling Wryn, but also this cute little dog that reminds me of our Cooper! Once I saw the dog, that was it!!

I colored the dog and ballons with Copics, added a layer of Glossy Accents and stitched the panel to pp by My Minds Eye.

I am entering this card in CASual Friday's current challenge "Long and Short".  The requirement is to make a non-standard sized card This card will fit in a business-sized envelope.  I am also entering it into Tiddly Inks' current challenge "Anything Goes".

A sunny day here; a holiday for most workers and Inauguration Day.

Hope you are having a wonderful day off if you are in a place that celebrates Martin Luther King Day. And the inauguration is a great reminder of the history of our country and what it has meant for all of us.

Thanks for stopping by!!

Raining Love

Raining Love by judkajudy
.
This is a Hero Arts Stamp and Cut image. The background is Simon Says' Falling Hearts die cut. The litle bird is by Doodlebug Designs and is a gift from my blogging friend Sally. I added white dots to the umbrella and colored the sections with Distress markers.

I am going to enter this in CASology's "Blue" challenge.

We had rain all last week and it didn't look like love or hearts!!

Thanks for stopping by.

Jane's Doodles

100_4979 by judkajudy

It's a little early to be looking forward to April Showers, but I couldn't resist inking up this Janes' Doodles set! The raindrops are not part of the set, that's a "rubbersoul" stamp. I will be entering this card in the CASology challenge "Blue".

I used Hero Arts' new midtone ink "Navy" and embossed the images with clear embossing powder. That's a Cuttlebug embossing folder for the background.

Last week was such fun blog hopping with my fellow Hero Hostess sisters! I hope you hopped along and enjoyed seeing what can be done with the new stamps from Hero Arts.

We are finally enjoying a sunny day here in Alabama! I should have posted this card last week when it rained every day, all day!!

Thanks for stopping by!

Hero Arts 2013 Catalog Blog Hop

Welcome to the second day of the Hero Arts 2013 Catalog Blog Hop, featuring fabulous stamps from the new 2013 release!  I am so excited to be part of this Hop with my Hero Arts Hostess Sisters!  If you’ve been following along, you’ve just arrived from fabulous Robin's blog!  If  you want to start blog-hopping from the beginning, go to the Hero Arts blog.

Hero Arts will be awarding prizes from randomly drawn comments. For a chance to win, simply comment on ANY of the stops along the hop on ANY day, including each day’s starting post at the Hero Club Blog. The more comments you leave, the better your chance of winning!

If you find a broken link (stuff happens, you know!) you'll find a master list of the hop links at the Hero Club Blog. Also, please report broken links to Tami.
Here's my first card:

Birthday Delivery
I used the new wood block stamp "Birthday Delivery", substituting the birthday signboard for the altered label from "Love Jar".  Don't be afraid to cut up those clear stamps; you can put the pieces back together if needed.  The "Map of America" cling stamp background  has been stamped in white on kraft and embossed with white.  That highway?  Washi tape!!  Don't you love it?

It was love at first sight when I saw this Happy Birthday set!  It was designed with Operation Write Home in mind.  This card tends to be more masculine, but change up the colors and background and it will work for any gender, any age.  I have paper pieced the balloon and distressed the
Map of America background.  I love the stitched clouds and the set includes other  sentiments and images that you can use for any occasion!

100_4926
I've used the new "Love Jar" set for this card.  The flower stamps in this set create  a solid image, but for this card I wanted to make it look like an outline stamp, so I used a Copic multiliner pen to trace around the petals, stems and leaves.   I did a bit of masking around the jar top to make the stems appear to be in the jar.  The pink hearts are punch outs.  Once again, I didn't use the label that came with this set, instead using the "Sending Love" stamp.

The glare you see here is the shine from the "jar" I created from a sheet of acetate to contain the hearts and make the jar appear real.

On this card, I "branched out" and used the leafy stem as a branch from which I hung "precious hearts" diecuts from Memory Box.  This branch can be the place to hang birdhouses, Christmas ornaments, or other seasonal objects.

That's it for me!  I've enjoyed this reunion with my Hostess Sisters!  To celebrate, I will draw a name at random on Saturday from the comments left here to receive an assortment of stamping goodies!

Wintery Trendy Trees

Wintery Trendy Trees by judkajudy
I am back with another "Trendy Trees" card, this time trying for a wintery look. I stamped the trees in white and embossed with white embossing powder. I added Glitter Glue to the leaves and did a bit of stitching. I added the blue stars for a touch of icy color.

I will be entering this card in CASology's challenge "Winter" and in Simon Says Stamps challenge to use "Black and White and a Splash of Color".

I have some happy news, too!! Next week, Monday through Friday on the Hero Arts blog the Hero Hostesses Alumnae will be hosting a blog hop. Of course there will be prizes provided by Hero Arts and some of the hostesses, too.

I know the Ladies of the Apron will have amazing projects showcasing the 2013 Hero Arts catalog. I am honored to be among this talented group and my work will be included in Tuesday's hop (January 15th).

Thanks, once again, for stopping by!

Trendy Trees by Memory Box

100_4956 by judkajudy

This is my new Trendy Tress stamp and die combo from Memory Box. I have a "thing" for trees and find they can be used for any occasion.

I created the colors on the tress by adding Distress Inks to white card stock, then stamping the image onto the colors. I used the die in my Vagabond, and have to admit it took several tries to get it right.

The big dots background is a Cuttlebug embossing folder, which I added for some texture.

I am entering this card in CAS-ual Friday's challenge this week to make a thank you card.

Hope your day is going well and I am so happy you stopped by!

"Printables" ATC

"Printables" ATC by judkajudy
One of the challenges this month on the Hero Arts blog is to make an ATC, or Artists' Trading Card.  Last year I made ATC's and participated in a couple of swaps but this is my first ATC since then. It surprises me how much art you can create in so little space and how fun it is to add details as you go along.

I've used Hero Arts "Printables" on this ATC. The background is Old Letter Writing and the butterflies come from a printable titled "Flutterbies". It's easy peasy to print out the images, color and cut! No inky smudges and a perfect image every time.

I colored the butterflies with Copic markers, but they didn't come to life until I distressed them with Scattered Straw distress ink. The message was in my scraps and I don't have any idea where it came from; it just showed up at the right time. Don't you love it when that happens?

I've been able to spend time playing with stamps, paper and ink these past few days and have thoroughly enjoyed the process. The hustle and bustle of the holidays are behind us and winter days are for hot chocolate and crafting!

I'm so happy you stopped by!!
