Penny Black Mimi

Penny Black Mimi by judkajudy
I have a box of assorted embellishments, some hand made, that were a gift last Christmas from my stamping friend Sally. The box included this image by Penny Black and features Mimi giving the little hedgie "A Trip". I decided it was time to stop hoarding and start enjoying the contents of the box!  I colored with Copics and added some banner stickers that were a "find" in the dollar bins at Michael's.  The sentiment is from Hero Arts.

Yesterday was yet another dark, dreary, rainy day and I ventured out to Hobby Lobby to take advantage of the 50% off paper pads sale. The new papers encouraged me to ink up some stamps, get out the Copics and make some thank you cards! This striped paper is from a My Mind's Eye pad called Lost & Found.

Have you ever completely used up a pad of patterned paper? No, I haven't either! Sadly, the newest papers get all the attention for awhile and then are set aside when yet more paper is brought home!!

We had a lovely Christmas with family in Wisconsin. There was enough snow on the ground to make the Christmas lights shine brighter, but not enough to cause travel problems. We were joyful and triumphant for the five days we spent together. We were voluntarily bumped on our flight from Atlanta to Milwaukee which gave us each a travel voucher and delayed our arrival by only two hours. Merry Christmas to us!!

It is the end of 2012! How can this be? I plan to take some time to review the year in my head, being grateful for the good and letting go of any not so good! I wish you and yours a Happy New Year and blessing for 2013!

Thanks for stopping by!

Nativity Scene Penny Black

Nativity Scene Penny Black by judkajudy
.
While I have always loved this Penny Black Nativity cling stamp, I have not felt confident to color it properly. After creating the night sky in black and white with my new Simon Says Stamp starry night die, I realized I could leave the image in black and white. This certainly makes it easier for mass production! The sentiment is from Hero Arts, a stamp I have owned for abour four years and haven't used!

Our weather is making it difficult to realize this is the holiday season! The prediction is for 70 degrees this weekend! Many of our neighbors have their outdoor decorations up and lit which is reminding me Christmas is rapidly approaching.

I did put away the Thanksgiving decor and tossed the last of the leftover turkey today. We had a quiet but wonderful Thanksgiving!

Santa's Sweetest Season

100_4832 by judkajudy
.
Yet another card using Stacey Yakula's Santa from Purple Onion Designs. I stamped him on watercolor paper, watercolored him using distress inks and touched up with Copics.

I have had to put away the playthings for a few days. Company is coming for Thanksgiving, including my daughter from Minneapolis.

Big disappointment today: carpet cleaners did not show up!! After several phone calls in which the appointment time was changed, they are no longer answering the phone! Our furniture is stacked, we have wasted the day waiting for them, and I am confused why any business would not explain themselves!

The good news is, I found someone to come tomorrow! It was that or get out the Bissel and get to work!!

Hope your day went better than mine! Join us at the Hero Arts blog this evening starting at 6:30 pm for 24 hours of 90-minute Scrambles!! I am hostessing the 8:30 to 10:30 pm shift!! Don't tell anyone, but I will probably be in my p.j.'s!!

Thanks for stopping by!!

Laurel - Sweetest Season Purple Onion Designs

Laurel - Sweetest Season Purple Onion Designs by judkajudy
These images from Stacey Yakula for Purple Onion Designs have taken over my crafty brain! This is Laurel and the design is an almost direct copy of a card done by Alice Wertz for the POD blog.

I am enjoying playing with watercoloring, using my distress inks to color the images stamped on watercolor paper. Very relzxing and the shading tends to take care of itself.

I have made more cards using this series and will eventually post them here. For now, it is time to stop playing and finish preparations for our Thanksgiving holiday.

There will be a 24 hour Scramble at the Hero Arts blog this weekend, beginning at 6:30 pm central time on Friday the 16th. Hannah Nicole of the Flickr group will begin and I will follow her as hostess at 8:30 pm.  The last Scramble will begin at 4:30 pm on Saturday the 17th.

The 24 hour Scramble was Ava's idea and Hannah did the organizing. Hero Arts will donate a digital set to the winner of each Scramble. Check out the schedule and join in when it works for you in your time zone!!

Thanks for dropping by!!

Sweetest Season Purple Onion Designs

Sweetest Season Purple Onion Designs by judkajudy
.
This is "Berry", part of the Sweetest Season Series by Stacey Yakula for Purple Onion Designs. Don't know why his name is Berry but I speculate it is for "Berry Christmas!"

I stamped the image on watercolor paper, painted him with distress inks and matted and stitched him to a card base.

I am happily playing with all the images in this series and will post a few more cards over the next week. I have no shortage of ideas but must balance play time with "get things done before the holidays" time.

My hope is that our friends in the Northeast are enjoying heat and lights once again. Life is better when the power is on!

Thanks for stopping by! Hope Berry is melting your heart a bit and bringing a smile to your Tuesday.

POD Stacey Yakula Designs

POD Stacey Yakula Designs by judkajudy
I tried, but could not resist, purchasing the entire Sweet Seasons series of Purple Onion Designs' stamps by Stacey Yakula.

The Design Team at POD has created some "to die for" cards that made my mouth water!! Michelle, of POD, has been dealing with the aftermath of Super Storm Sandy, but in the midst of her troubles managed to keep in touch with her customers and finally make it to the post office to ship orders.

I tried coloring Santa with Copics a la Allice Wertz, but realized red is a difficult color to manage. My solution was to paint with distress inks and highlight with Copics.

My plan is to spend some time today playing with the other images in this series. They all make me smile!!

We are enjoying beautiful Fall weather! I hope you have time today to do what makes your heart happy.

Thanks for stopping by!

Deasy Designs Happy Winter

Deasy Designs by judkajudy
.
I couldn't resist these new digital images from Deasy Designs; especially with the 20% off sale!  The images are colored with Copics, matted with patterned paper and stitched a bit!  The "Let it Snow" sentiment is by Lawn Fawn, the others are Hero Arts.

I don't think I can bear to send these to anyone. I may just keep them for their smile value!

We have been catching up on home maintenance projects lately.  Had the trim on the outside done about two weeks ago.  That all looks so nice and fresh, I decided I wanted to perk up the interior as well.

I thought I would just "touch up" woodwork and cabinets in the kitchen, but once part of the woodwork looked so crisp and clean, it seemed necessary to branch out into the rest of the house!  I painted the last of the baseboards today!   Thank goodness for blue painters' tape! What fun it is to peel that tape off and see those nice crisp edges.

My thoughts are with the people on the East Coast who have been affected by yet another weather event! Hopefully their power will be restored quickly and they can begin to put back the pieces of their lives.

Thanks for stopping by!!

Happy Halloween!

100_4814 by judkajudy
Freckles and Tucker, created by Stacey Yakula for Purple Onion Designs, are getting ready to go Trick or Treating! Freckles has waited all year to wear his witch's hat! Neither one seems bothered by the hovering bats.

Hope you have fun greeting the litle ghosts and goblins at your front door and tonight is all about treats instead of tricks!

To my friends affected by Super Storm Sandy, my thoughts and prayers are with you all. May you soon be enjoying the comfort and convenience of electricity as you work to get life back to normal. Blessings!!

Hallowe'en is Coming!

Here they are!  Halloween cards for the three youngest grandchildren.  It won't be long before they believe they are too cool to enjoy Grandma's cards.

100_4811

This is a digital image from Little Dog Designs.  I colored the image with Copics and used my bubble punch to punch holes in the gingham paper which was layered over purple cardstock.  I added glitter to the bubbles and on the critters' hats.  We girls love our bling!!

100_4808

This is a CASE of Jane's card using her Jane's Doodles digital image!  That puppy doesn't look so sure he wants to be involved with Halloween at all!  I colored the image with Copics, added a webby ribbon and some stamped stitching.   I love the spider hanging down; just the perfect touch!

100_4807

This is a Penny Black stamp from a few years ago that I usually stamp in black ink on white cardstock.  Today I decided to stamp the image with VersaMark and emboss with white.  I like it!!  Added some rhinestones that were sent to me from the Netherlands by Linda!  Even though this card is for a boy, I had to add the spidery bow!

We finally have the trim on the house painted!  Gave up on the do-it-yourself plan and hired pros!!  It was done in one day and looks great!

Today I am booking flights to Milwaukee for Christmas!  We will gather at my son and his wife's new home that we helped paint last August!  Scott and Sara have announced they are expecting my fifth grandchild!  Such happy news!!

The trees are in full color this week and the sun is shining on God's tapestry!  Perfect weather, no need for air conditioning or heat!!

Thanks for stopping by!!

Jane's Doodles WCMD Angel

Jane's Doodles WCMD Angel by judkajudy
Jane, of Jane's Doodles,  offered this cutie pie angel as a freebie digi image on her blog for WCMD. I have CASED the sample card Jane made, with a few variations.

This image has lots of potential for paper piecing, glitter and assorted color schemes.

I had a great WCMD weekend and I hope you got to play, too.

Thank you, Jane! Love this angel image!

Framelits Reindeer

Framelits Reindeer by judkajudy
I used the Hero Arts Reindeer set that included Framelits to cut the reindeer and the trees. The clouds are punched with a Fiskars punch. Love how quickly the Vagabond cutsout those shapes!!I

I am entering this card in the "Scene It" Number 4 challenge at the Ellen Hutson Classroom for WCMD.

I've had fun participating in the WCMD fun this weekend! It's been a very cool and cloudy day, just perfect for being indoors and stamping!!

Jolly Friend

Jolly Friend by judkajudy
Sometimes small and simple is the way to go. This little bird from Penny Black's transparent set "Jolly Friends" is tiny but big enough to hold his own on a mini-card.

This would be an easy card to mass produce! In the midst of making cards for WCMD events, I just wanted to relax my brain and let this little guy have a card of his own.

Cool here today; wore a jacket for the morning walk with Cooper. Next week our lovely seventy degree weather should be back.

Have a great Sunday! Hope it includes some time to play. I have a couple of sketches I would like to see what I can do with ... it's always good to have a plan!!

Thanks for stopping by ... again!!

World Card Making Day

Winter Town by judkajudy
It's an awesome day for card makers! Move over Columbus, card makers have taken over your weekend.

I made this Christmas card to enter Challenge No. 1, Holiday Greetings at
Ellen Hutson's blog. There are five challenges in all and Ellen is allowing almost a week to make a card for each challenge. I am also entering this challenge in Hero Arts' October challenge, holiday cards.

The image is Hero Arts' Winter Town stamped with distress ink. Glitter Glue added to the rooftops for some sparkle. Of course, some stitching to hold the pp and kraft matting all together! The sentiment is Hero Arts, too.

It's been a mix of work and play at our house. Saturday usually means errands. Cooper had an appointment with the groomer today and is looking adorable (until he goes outside and behaves like a dog!).

Perhaps next year we could have World Card Making Week ... why not?

Thanks so much for stopping by!!

Loving Fall's colors!

Loving Fall's colors! by judkajudy
.
Just for fun, colored the WhipperSnapper sunflower with distress markers. Added the little snail from Jane's Doodles Garden Friends. The patterned paper background is a digital paper "Trattoria Chef from The Paper Shelter.

It is a cool, overcast, little bit rainy day today. Not nice enough to finish power washing the eaves and trim on the house. There is a big paint job in our future!!

I know many of you have begun making your Christmas cards already. I have seen some beautiful Christmas cards on the blogs I visit. I did make a couple for the World Card Making Day event at the Hero Arts blog, but I don't want to skip over the chance to use the lovely colors of fall.

Huntsville is surrounded by mountains and the leaves are just beginning to turn. When the color is at its peak and the sun shines just right, it looks like a rich tapestry ... it becomes difficult to pay attention to the road ahead of you because your eyes want to take in that feast of color!!

Hope you are spending some time today making a card or two. It isn't every hobby that has a day all its own!!

Thanks for stopping by!

CASology . Zoo

CASology . Zoo by judkajudy

This week's challenge at CASology is to be inspired by the word "zoo". I thought of this zebra stamp that I have had for a long time. It is by Judikins, at least 10 years old!

I stamped it with sparkly VersaMark and black dye ink and heat embossed it with clear powder. It is sparkly in real life!

I couldn't resist the pun, once I thought of it!! I love having the last word!!

Thanks for stopping by today!

"Thank Shoe"

100_4776 by judkajudy

The challenge word at CASology this week is "shoe". I instantly thought of this unmounted red rubber stamp of a shoe image that I have owned for at least 10 years! And several years after I bought the shoe stamp, I came upon the little sentiment stamp "Thank Shoe". I don't think I have ever used these stamps until now!!

To keep things simple, I stamped the image on white card stock and then used my EK "bubbles" punch to add interest to the edge. I used photo corners to mount the white cardstock onto black. The image has a large bow included where I placed my black gingham ribbon bow.

I am glad to have finally put these two images together to make a card!! It's the first inkling of inspiration I have had since returning from my week in Minneapolis. Instead of creating, I have been cleaning out the craft room, looking for the metal dies that I have successfully stored where I can't find them!!

Hope your day is going well and you are looking forward to a great weekend! Thanks for stopping by!

Make 'n Takes Scrapfest 2012

Make 'n Take Graphic 45 papers by judkajudy
This Make 'n Take offered at the Graphic 45 booth was definitely worth the thirty minute wait! There were at least three lovely young women hosting the booth. Each was dressed in very elegant outfits, complete with hat, representative of the "roaring twenties".

While I put together this lovely tag, I chatted with one of the young ladies and learned they are the daughters of the woman who founded the company and travel all over helping her with various events. How special is that??

This is a style that I don't use much but certainly admire!!

I also admire all the vendors who hosted their booths for eight hours each day, patiently helping crafters of all abilities assemble their make 'n takes. The noise level alone would have caused my melt-down!!

And here is the lovely Make 'n Take from Prima.  Not only were we able to take home this lovely tag, we were also given a booklet with design information as well as several pages of their lovely papers!

Have a great week everyone!!

Scrapfest!

100_4732 by judkajudy
This is me in my front row seat at Tim Holtz's class at Scrapfest 2012 held in Minneapolis at the Mall of America one week ago!

I combined Scrapfest with a visit to my daughter who lives in Uptown Minneapolis. I arrived home this past Tuesday and I wasn't back to "normal" until yesterday!! Between Scrapfest and the activities my daughter planned for us I came home ready for a lazy week!

Tim Holtz's class was fantastic!! He sets aside one hour and forty-five minutes to complete the project so there is enough time for learning and practicing new techniques. While the class fee was higher than other classes at Scrapfest, each participant went home with product and souvenirs at least equal to the cost of the class. I am wearing my new Ranger apron in the photo and concentrating very hard on coloring the pre-stamped image with Distress Markers.

And this is the mixed media project we created!!

There were six of us from the Hero Arts Flickr group in this early Saturday morning class. Tim Holtz is fun, engaging and helpful during the class and took the time to pose with each of us wanting a photo. He did, however, turn down my invitation to join us for dinner!!

Now that my energy level (and my sore back) have returned to a more normal state, I will post more about this amazing experience.

Thanks for stopping by!!

Cutie Witch

Cutie Witch by judkajudy
Just a quickie post as I am in my last minute frenzy of packing, unpacking and repacking! I think the airlines imposed their 50 lb. weight limit per suitcase for people like me who want to take it all!!

I used Hero Arts Asian Doll, cut out and mounted on the Prairie Grass bg stamp and added a cluster of bats, also by Hero Arts. I punched the witches' hat using a Martha Stewart punch. She's just too cute to be scary!!

I fly out tomorrow at 1 pm to Minneapolis by way of Chicago. This is my first trip to Scrapfest. How convenient is it that my daughter lives in Minneapolis and will be providing accommodations and transportation! Guess that's fair since I did that for her the first 18 years of her life!!

See you all when I get back. Knowing me, there will be pictures!! Have a great week and thanks for stopping by!!

Family: Photo Album/Sisters

Family: Photo Album/Sisters by judkajudy
.
Photos and photo albums have been on my mind lately, especially since my youngest son presented me with two more boxes of photos and photo albums that I had left in his care when we retired and took to the road in our RV. I have plastic totes and boxes of photos stashed in almost every closet. These are not only the photos I have taken over the years, but also those that belonged to my parents and my grandmother!!

I have begun the tedious process of labeling them and putting them into loose chronological order. This is a gigantic task, not only because of the volume of photos, but because each one evokes a memory that has to be explored and shared with whomever may be around!

The challenge word at CASology this week is "Family". So, for now, family means photo albums and memories! This image reminds me of my sister and I; she the big sister, me clinging to her hand believing I was safe as long as I hung on.

The sisters stamp is from a company called Great Impressions from Olympia, Washington. Most probably that company is no longer in existence as this is a very old stamp! It remains one of my favorites because of the memories it brings back.

Not sure if this card is clean and simple enough for the challenge, but it is a card that insisted on being made!

Cooler weather has arrived for us this week for which we are thankful! Great weather for packing my suitcase for the trip to Scrapfest. I'm so glad you stopped by.

Purple Onion Design

Purple Onion Design by judkajudy
Another card using Distress Markers to color a Purple Onion Design image, Large Flower.

I took advantage of a sale on the POD blog and finally purchased the stamps I had been admiring for awhile ... actually, every time I stopped by Donna Mikasa's blog!

I've been busy getting ready to leave home for Scrapfest in 8 days!! I have a daughter living in Minneapolis who will kindly see to it that I make it to the Mall of America for the classes and the fun reunion with friends from the Hero Arts flickr group! I think there will be some shopping involed, too.

If you are among the working crowd, enjoy your four-day week here in the U.S. I appreciate your stopping by!

Movin' Right Along!

Movin' Right Along! by judkajudy
This is another card I made incorporating the design principles being taught at the Moxie Fab World site. I've used the parachuting chickies from Denami Designs to include "movement". I love how my eyes like to follow their flight down the card!

I am entering this card in Moxie Fab Worlds challenge under the "Movement" design principle.  I colored the images with Copics and added Glossy Accents to their parachutes.  The cloud background is from Hero Arts.  I punched the hexagon shapes using the Making Memories punch I won on Ebay.

No parachuting going on here in northern Alabama! Or picnics or boating! Fierce thunderstorms yesterday afternoon and evening and steady rain today.

Hope your plans work out or that you have a great Plan B!! Thanks for the visit!

Relaxing Clean and Simple

Relaxing Clean and Simple by judkajudy
When I saw that the challenge word for CASology this week was "relax", I thought of this Hero Arts set "Let's Chill". When I think of "relax", I think of the beach!  So I will enter this card in their challenge; it meets their criteria for lots of white space, but not so sure about the "one focal image".

I am also going to enter the challenge at Moxie Fab World for a card using the design principle "movement". I find my eyes going in a circle from tree, to crab, to sentiment... or you could start anywhere and go in a circle!

It's a holiday weekend here in the U.S. Hard working citizens are enjoying a long weekend and marking the end of summer. Here in Alabama there's lots of summer left!

If you are curious about design principles or want to learn more, be sure to visit Moxie Fab World's blog and check it out! An entire week was devoted to principles of design and introducing their newly published design handbook.

Enjoy your weekend, however you spend it. And I'm so glad you stopped by.

Jane's Doodles and Pink Petticoat

Jane's Doodles and Pink Petticoat by judkajudy
I finally inked up the Doodles Flowers set from Jane's Doodles and combined it with the birdie  digi image from Pink Petticoats. The tiny gingham checked paper just happened to be on my desk when I needed a card base! I like the combination.

I'm eagerly waiting for my copy of Paper Craft's Design Handbook to arrive. There were so many design tips from the book on the Moxie Fab World blog recently that I knew I needed the whole book!!

I've been trying to incorporate newly learned design principles into my card making. The colors on this card fall into the Gallon, Quart, Pint principle; three colors with each one being used in a lesser quantity than the one above it! In this card, blue is the Gallon color, brown the Quart color and green is the Pint color. I also thought about balance and movement while putting the card together.

I am so excited to know good design principles can be learned and need not be genetic!!

We are experiencing some cloudy weather with the prospect of rain, thanks to Hurricane Isaac. It is a reminder to keep the people suffering from this storm in our hearts and prayers.

So glad you stopped by!

Gallon, Quart, Pint

Janes' Doodles digi by judkajudy
Gallon, quart and pint refers to the ratio of three colors used when making a card. This is information I learned from the Moxie Fab World blog last week as part of an entire week of design lessons! What a great way to be aware of how you use color.

This is Winnie, a new digi from Jane's Doodles. It was love at first sight for me! I colored her with Copics, used the photo frame from Purple Onion Designs to "anchor" her (another design tip) stitched and buttoned her together!

I plan to enter this card in the Moxie Fab World challenge featuring the gallon, quart, paint design tip. I've lurked at the MFW blog for a very long time, but this will be my first entry for a challenge. The talent over there is Moxie Fab!!

It's Monday and I need to stop blog surfing, e-mailing and playing Words With Friends. I started to browse Pinterest but decided I didn't dare add another distraction to my day!

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

Purple Onion Designs

Purple Onion Designs by judkajudy
I always take my checkbook along when I visit Donna Mikasa's blog "Three Umbrellas". She is on the design team for Purple Onion Designs and she works magic with their images!  More often than not, I end up buying the stamps she uses.

Recently, Donna posted on her blog that POD was having a 25% off sale, including their already reduced images! I took advantage of the sale not once, but twice! I'd been eyeing many of their stamps for quite awhile.

I printed the dotted background onto kraft from a Pink Petticoat digi paper set. I love the dots on kraft! I stamped the POD images in Memento brown ink and colored with Copics, using a mixture of reds, yellows and oranges.

Couldn't resist adding the little bird, also from POD, and the sentiment from DeNami Design (which I think was also enabled by Donna!!)

I've been practicing the design lessons published in the latest Paper Craft magazine and shared on the Moxie Fab World blog. I started out thinking about "movement" with this card  and I think I missed the mark!! But I'm loving the colors and the images!

The lessons posted on the MFW blog are more helpful than any I've seen so far! I've ordered the Design issue of Paper Craft so I can continue to learn and practice. I know for some cardmakers, these design principles come naturally; for me, not so much!!

Our trip to Wisconsin was a huge success; we were able to paint five rooms in our son's new home, wash all the windows and screens, set up bedrooms and the kitchen and enjoyed being and working together! Many of the friends who attended the wedding in April in Cabos san Lucas were there helping, too!

Hope you are having a great weekend. Enjoy these last days of summer. For many of us who have listened to the hum (or roar!) of the air conditioner these past 4 or 5 months, fall will be a welcomed relief!

Thanks for stopping by!

Digi Bee and Flower

100_4671 by judkajudy
I've been exploring my digi files lately and came across this bee and flower. Unfortunately, it was a freebie and I don't know the source! I've paired it with hexagon patterned paper, a digi that includes 53 different colors!! It's from Pink Petticoat digi's. The sentiment is from "Stitched Sentiments" from The Craft's Meow.  I'm having fun with Glitter Glue lately! I like the touch of bling it adds.

Today is the day we were to be on our way to Wisconsin to help my son and his wife move to their new home. To everyone's disappointment, there is a snag in the paperwork and everything is on hold!! We are ready to leave as soon as we learn the new date!

I'm glad you stopped by!! Have a great weekend.

Digi Images Combined

Digi Images Combined by judkajudy
.
I've been re-visiting some of my digital image files and had fun coloring Belinda from Tiddly Inks and coloring her with distress markers. Cut her out and placed her in front of an image from GGK.

If you look closely, you will notice that my bobbin ran out just as I was sewing up the left hand side of the card!

I hate it when that happens! Don't think this card will be leaving home anytime soon!

Temps were in the 80's today; blessed relief!! Hope your weather is just perfect where you are! Project for this week:  packing for the trip to Wisconsin.  Thanks for stopping by!

Digital Stamp Club

Digital Stamp Club by judkajudy
This week I received an email from the Digital Stamp Club with an offer I couldn't refuse! A modest monthly fee grants access to hundreds of digi images and a gift certificate to purchase digi's in their store.

I love this happy birthday turtle! The sentiment is from Paper Smooches, enabled by Donna Mikasa. I had fun with the glitter glue on this one!!

Hope your weekend is going well and I thank you for stopping by! If you see Donna Mikasa around, wish her a happy birthday!!

Shadow Stamp Revisited!

100_4660 by judkajudy
The challenge this week at CASology is to use the word "bird" for inspiration! Since I am a very literal person, I decided that my challenge entry should have a bird on it!!

I used a very old Hero Arts shadow stamp as the background for the Inkadinkadoo bird and branch stamp. I thought the blue and gray tones needed a splash of color for a bit more visual interest and so I added the green ribbon a little green "jewel".

Last weekend we drove to Atlanta for a visit with family and Cooper went along. Poor Cooper! He was terribly car sick ... made worse by the fact he insists on riding on the floor of the car instead of up on the seat!

After he recovered from his wooziness, he enjoyed playing with my son's dog, Spencer. This was a big improvement over the first time they met!!

Next adventure coming up: a trip to Milwaukee to help our newly-married son and his wife move to their new home. We will be wielding paint brushes and cleaning, and cooking for the moving crew! Can't wait!!

Thanks for stopping by!

CAS-ual Fridays Black Background Challenge

100_4642 by judkajudy
I think black adds a touch of elegance to any card, but I wasn't so sure about an entirely black background! I decided to accept the challenge on the CAS-ual Fridays site and make a card with a black background.

Stamping Fun!

Last summer I signed up at the last minute for Jennifer McGuire's Stamp Camp.   I happened to mention (whined) that because of my tardiness I was assigned the only bunk left in the cabin - an upper bunk!  Well, Sally from Missouri kindly offered to give up her lower bunk so I could enjoy my stay at Stamp Camp and we have been friends ever since!

We didn't sign up for stamping camp this summer and instead have rented a beach cottage where we are enjoying a stamping vacation.  Today we decided to use a similar image to make a card and see what happened!  I haven't seen Sally's version yet, but I know it will be a perfect masterpiece, full of amazing details and embellishments.

We chose to use Miss Innocence images and here is my card:

As you can see, the puppy (a Deasey Design digi) is in serious danger of being bopped on the head by that huge cupcake!

Well, doggone!!  That smart little puppy realized the danger and frolicked off to chase a squirrel!!

Ms. Innocence is paper pieced with the cross stitching added by hand on her dress.  Colored with Copics.

Edited to add:  Sally just e-mailed me the darling card she made using a Miss Innocence image called "Beach Bum":

Now isn't this the sweetest card ever?  I love the Polaroid shot of Little Miss Beach Bum in her tie-dyed bathing suit.  Notice how the flag embelli's mimic the little flag on the sand castle.  And the tie-dyed turtles?  To "die" for!  (The turtles were made with a die from Memory Box).  I am hopeful after spending three weeks watching Sally stamp, I will absorb some of this talent!

Had lots of fun at the beach cottage today and can't wait to see what else we can challenge each other to do during our three week vacation!  We are enjoying the provided breakfast, the daily maid service and the charming little town where we browse the stamping stores and end up with home made ice cream before going back to the cottage.

If you haven't guessed by now, I confess that the beach cottage thing is a fantasy; only the cards and the friendship are real!!  Thanks for stopping by!!

Deasey Rossie and Canine

Deasey Rossie and Canine by judkajudy
More digi images from Deasey Designs! I've used the dog, fence and tree from the Canines set and of course, Rossie! The sky and ground are patterned papers and I've colored the images wtih Copics.

The little canine reminds me of our dog Cooper! Couldn't resist this set!

We have had blessed rain for three days; sadly, it is too late to save the second corn crop. The temperatures have dropped to a more tolerable range and life is a bit easier.

Hope your weather is brining good things to where you live!! Thank you for stopping by!!

CASology Challenge #1

CAS-ology Challenge #1 by judkajudy

CASology is a new challenge site with the creative twist of defining each challenge by using a single word. This first challenge is defined by the word "sun". Take it and interpret if any way you like!!

I live with a golfer so of course i had to include the little golfing chick!! I'm looking forward to the weekly challenges at CASology!

If it has cooled off outside, it is very subtle! I'm still feeling a bit house-bound! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Aero Boy

Aero Boy by judkajudy
This is another image from Deasy Designs digi set "Aero Boy". There's about 12 images in this digi set, so I won't be running out of ideas soon! The sentiment is from Paper Smooches, kindly enabled by Donna Mikasa. I'm not sure I can afford to visit Donna's blog anymore; I always find things there that I have to have!!

Lots of time to craft as it is HOT in Alabama. Even the dog doesn't want to go outside!

Thanks for stopping by.

Aero Boy by Deasy Designs

Aero Boy by Deasy Designs by judkajudy
When I saw the premiere stamp launch of a new stamp company called Deasy Designs, I knew I had to add the Aero Boy set to my digi collection. The set is also available as a clear stamp set.

I'm entering this card in CAS-ual Fridays challenge to include two circles in your card. Those goggles do it for me!!  I just cut out the clouds and the flying bird after coloring them with Copics.  Some pop dots, some stiching and some "hills" with a sentiment by Hero Arts and it was all done.

It's a very warm Fourth of July here in Alabama! We may do the all American picnic of Kentucky Fried Chicken eaten in air-conditioned comfort!

Hope you are having a happy family holiday! Thanks for stopping by -- and God Bless America!!
