Cute as a Bug by Penny Black

I love being able to play with the cute and adorable images in this Penny Black transparent set "Cute as a Bug".

I colored this sweet little bee with Copics and fussy cut her out and popped her onto cardstock that had been embossed with a Cuttlebug folder.  She looks right at home among those flowers.

I am busy as a bee getting ready for a five day crafty retreat in Cincinnati.  I will be meeting some of my stamping idols and blogging friends for the first time.  I have gathered all the supplies that will fit in my rolling backpack and have my clothes set aside.  It looks like there is a warming trend in Ohio and I won't have to take a winter coat; thank goodness.

Poor Cooper has caught onto the meaning of a suitcase ... he seems to realize someone is leaving.  He will be happy when he figures out it is me, not his beloved Larry!

I tried mightily to lose ten lbs. before this trip and have been frustrated that I wasn't able to meet that goal.  I do have a clue, though, about what the problem could be.  I have been eating large salads for lunch every day, enjoying my favorite cherry balsamic dressing.  Yesterday I read the label; 110 calories per TWO TABLESPOONS.  I hate to even think about how much dressing I was pouring onto my salads.  Lesson learned, I guess.    I think I liked life better when we didn't know the calorie count of our food.

Hope your Monday is filled with sunshine and flowers.  It might be too early for bees, though.  Thanks for stopping by.

A Friend Is by Penny Black

Where has the time gone?  When my husband left for his ten day trip to Arizona, the days stretched in front of me, seemingly endless.  And here it is, the day he is coming home.  I made a list before he left of things to accomplish.  I wanted each day to have a plan or commitment.  It wasn't all chores; my list included a trip to Michael's and Hobby Lobby.  I also planned to shop for some new spring clothes to wear for an upcoming trip.  The dog needed to go to the groomer's and I needed a haircut.  My closet was on the list for a reorganization and the freezer needed cleaning and organizing

Proud to say, missions accomplished.  And add to the accomplishments, fixing the garage door opener when it refused to function (with telephone help from husband) and plunging a stopped up toilet (with no help from anyone).

I also had fun stamping and this is one of the cards I made.  I spent part of each day stamping and without that refuge I could not have borne the loneliness and quiet of the past ten days.

This is a slapstick stamp from Penny Black entitled A Friend Is ... And anyone who is owned by a dog can understand this image.  Cooper was a great companion for me while husband was gone.  I had to get dressed each morning and take him for his walk, as well as at noon and evening.  I met a few neighbors along the way and chatted endlessly with Cooper as we walked.  It was a different story while we were at home, though.  Cooper spent each day as you see him in the photo below:

I could have taken this same photo each day his buddy was gone.  It mattered not that I walked him, fed him, played with him and snuggled and pet him; he missed his master!  I've tried to tell him so often that today is the day!!  I will be sure to snap a photo of the big reunion!!

So, there it is ... ten days have gone by; spring doesn't seem any closer.  It was 34 degrees on our walk this morning with a brisk wind.  The daffodils were shivering!!

Thanks for stopping by ... I love your visits.  Hope your day includes time with friends and family; and some time for yourself!

Cute as a Bug by Penny Black

Cute as a Bug by Penny Black by judkajudy
Is she not the sweetest? This card includes several of my newest "favorite things". The transparent stamp set, of course. After coloring with Copics, I had fun renewing my relationship with my Stickles, adding them to the wings, the flower and the antennae.

The background is the Creative Die "Interlocking" by Penny Black, which adds so much to any image. After Penny Black featured ribbon on their blog recently, I ordered a "few" yards of new ribbon and a "Bow Easy" bow maker. This is the first bow using this new gizmo ... see, I am techy!!

Anyway, this card is just for fun. She is for sure "cute as a bug" and makes me smile.

Not many smiles at our house this week. Cooper's best buddy, my dh, is visiting his brother in Arizona for ten days and Cooper is keeping watch at the front door ALL DAY. He finally will leave long enough for a walk around the block and when we get home, back to his vigil he goes. Wish dogs could understand the concept of "he'll be back".

It is cold and windy here this week. Lots of rain earlier in the week which makes for miserable dog walking. The upside ... time for stamping!!

Thanks for stopping by ... hope Spring is considering a visit to your part of the world.

Cool Chick by Penny Black

Cool Chick by Penny Black by judkajudy
This sweetie is more like a party chick than cool chick!! She and Miss Kitty are getting ready to invite friends for a cupcake good time.

I stamped and embossed the image and then colored with Copics. I added white enamel dots for some interest. Lastly, I added the diecut pennants using Penny Blacks Creative Die "Pennant".

I hope this will be an indoor party since our weather has changed from warm and sunny 70 degrees to cool and cloudy 43 degrees with a strong wind!! Winter isn't through with us yet, it seems.

I am so glad you stopped by. Won't you stay for the cupcakes?

Penny Black Jubilant

Penny Black Jubilant by judkajudy

I've been away from my blog for a few days and it seems like forever!  I have been CLEANING!  We are expecting out of town company in a few days and it was a good excuse to get the Spring cleaning done.  Now we have to wait for the company and Spring!!
I watercolored the Penny Black stamp "Jubilant" using Distress inks and re-inkers. I then cut out the flower and placed it on the background that was created using Creative Die Interlocking also by Penny Black. I love the Penny Black floral images; they are so easy to color and look so good when done!!  The Interlocking die is one that I will use often.  Everything looks good when placed on it.
I will be entering this card in Virginia Lu's new challenge where the theme is watercoloring.  I've put my toys away for now and will be back on Monday, after the company leaves.  It will be a short visit, but they are dear friends and any time spent with them is precious.
Thanks for stopping by.  I hope Spring isn't just a rumor this year.  It has been a long winter for everyone.

By the way, this Saturday March 8th I will be Running with Scissors on the Penny Black blog!  Would love to see you there.
