What did I expect? It's January!!

Northern Alabama is experiencing the coldest January since 1940!! Sure glad I didn't miss it!! We have been experiencing snow, ice and single digit temperatures for the past week. School was canceled for two days, which means the daycare centers were also closed! I have been enjoying lots of free time. Our pot of home made vegetable soup has sustained us along with the leftover Christmas cookies!! Unfortunately, our house is a bit chilly! Our homes are not built to keep out cold such as this.

We heat with a system called a "heat pump". Normally, it is adequate; but, again, they are not designed to keep up with single digit temperatures. The good news is, tomorrow will be back to more normal forty degree temperatures. My golfing husband will be back out on the golf course and can abandon the jig saw puzzles that have kept him occupied.

I have been making cards to enter the challenge on the Hero Arts Blog where the theme for this month is friendship and Valentines. This has been a fun challenge for me!

Yellow Blossoms

The sunny yellow of this card just warmed me up!!

Birdie Valentine

And I had fun making this vaentine!

Two of the Three Girls

I know I will be using these sweet little girl stamps a lot!

All images are Hero Arts, from the new 2010 Catalog. Thanks for stopping by!

Judy - As I am basking in temperatures in the twenties ( celcius - around 70 degrees F) I feel for you. The news programmes here are all showing USA and Europe in the throes of the coldest winters for some time - Hope it is not a sign for the coming winter for me!!!
Your cards are delightful. This cold time at least has given you some crafting time and you certainly have used it to your advantage!!! Love them all

Such bright, cheery cards! Love them all...especially those little girls! Great coloring of the hair, too! Joy stayed home last week Thursday because of the slick roads...."Alabamans don't know how to drive in snow...." Is that true? Keep warm!!

DANG, Judy - are you on a roll or what?! These cards are terrific!!! I find monochromatic cards really difficult, so I shy away from them, but you kicked butt and took names!

All 3 of these are just fantastic cards Judy! Love the birds (that's one of my fav stamp sets) and that sunshiney card is so pretty. Hope you stay warm! It's been in the 20s and teens in Indiana. Brrrr....

Hi Judy,
I have seen your cards often on the Hero Arts/Fliker site and love them. Today is the first time I think I've seen your blog and was so tickled at how you described the upset in your husbands normal routine of golf. Your post was so funny, but I can just picture what it's like . My daughters have had those kind of experiences!!
We"ve had very cold weather in Houston, but I kind of like it. i grew up in Illinois and these colder winters take me back in time.
Thanks for sharing all your cards.
