Cheerful!

Cheerful is a good word to describe these daisies by Penny Black.  I love revisiting my older stamps and enjoying them all over again.

4160K Cheerful; 30-117 Free Flight;  51-029 Interlocking; 51-036 Wishes
I stamped and embossed two of the daisy images and after coloring with Copics,  cut them out.  I prepared a card base for them using the Interlocking die that I love for backgrounds.  It was just too plain so I added the black circle for some interest.  And who doesn't love a butterfly?  I wanted the butterfly to repeat the colors of the flowers.  The diecut "Wishes" was lying on my desk and ended up to be just the little extra I wanted.

It is the end of June today!  We are into the hot and muggies of a full blown Alabama summer.  Even the flowers and butterflies are drooping.  I am thankful every day for air conditioning.

Thanks for stopping by!  Next time I'll have the lemonade made and we can chat awhile.

It's Saturday morning and I'm spending time on the Penny Black blog today!  Be sure to check what I'm up to ... and maybe learn a few things, too!

I've been having great fun with Penny Black's newest release, Krafty Katz.  Here's the "Shop til you Drop" Kat .. just my type!  I made a shaker card, just for fun.  Desperate to use up sequins!!

A Trio of Poppies from Penny Black

I will say it again .. Penny Black has some of the most beautiful floral stamps ever!  I love their poppy stamps!

40-311 Poppy Trio;  51-006 Flutters;  51-029 Interlocking

I stamped and embossed the Poppy Trio image and colored it with Copic Markers.  Next, I fussy cut the flowers and mounted them with foam tape onto a circle diecut.  The butterfly was added to draw your eye upward to the flowers.  This grouping was then placed on the card base layered with the Interlocking diecut.

When the Interlocking die became available, my first thought was how perfect that lattice would be as a background for the Penny Black flowers!  I use it time and time again!

We are into the hot and muggies around here.  Perfect weather to be in the air-conditioned craft room playing with new stamps!

I grew up in the South at a time when homes were not air conditioned.  On those especially hot and humid nights, we would lie in bed, not moving except to occasionally flip our pillow over to the "cool" side.  Occasionally my mom would take us to the air conditioned movie theater ... it was like magic!  My sister and I would delight in the lavishly furnished lobby and ladies' room before settling down to watch the main attraction.

Our air conditioning was out for about three hours last summer and it was an absolute emergency!  We paid the weekend service charges rather than wait one day for repairs!  Can you say "spoiled"?

Hope your day is filled with summer breezes, lemonade and time to play!

Time for a Tea Party by Penny Black

I love these young ladies who are part of a Penny Black transparent set "T-Time".

30-178  T-Time
When we were little, my sister and I inherited a lovely china tea set from a great aunt.  We shared it while we were still children and agreed that the set would go to the sister who had the first daughter.  My daughter, Kathleen, owns the tea set now.  I don't remember a tea party with cupcakes, though!

I stamped these images with VersaFine black ink and then embossed with clear embossing powder.  I colored them with Copic markers and added some white dots with my brand new white pen that is working like a dream.  The plate of cupcakes was stamped separately and fussy cut and pop dotted onto the card.  And because I own a quart of sequins (at least) I added a few to this card.

It's too hot and humid for hot tea in Alabama, but a lot of "sweet tea" is flowing!

Thanks for your visit today!!

I'm Home!

I am home! It was a great visit to Wisconsin.   I enjoyed the mini cousin reunion with a traditional Wisconsin fish fry and then the main event:  Evelyn Rose's first birthday party.

It was a lovely Wisconsin summer day and we spent it on the deck.  We live in such a humid climate that we forget what that perfect Wisconsin weather is like (in the summer!)

Here she is .. all dolled up for her very first birthday.  That's Mom and Dad, Scott and Sara posing with the star of the birthday party.  Evelyn Rose loved her tutu and leg warmers and the pretty head band.  She spent time with family and friends, tasted frosting for the first time, opened her presents and then took a nice long nap!

The year has gone quickly.  We've watched Evelyn grow and change so much.  She is walking around all the furniture now and even lets go and stands on her own.  She will be walking soon!

I loved being with family!   The cancelled flights, delayed flights and misplaced suitcase were all worth it!  Thanks to Scott for driving from Milwaukee to Chicago to pick me up after the last three flights to Milwaukee were cancelled!  I'd probably still be wandering around looking for Customer Service!

Today I am having fun on the Penny Black blog.  I would love to see you there.  I know I said that last week, but I really mean it this time!

It's almost Father's Day!

If you're looking for me, I am running with scissors on the Penny Black blog today!  Click here to see what I'm up to this week.

30-248 Lost Without You  51-027  Triple Banner
This weekend is a hugely busy weekend for me!  I am in Milwaukee to celebrate Evelyn Rose's first birthday.  The party is today and I will fly home tomorrow in time to celebrate Father's Day with my husband, but also our 30th wedding anniversary!  Now, that's a serious number!!

I made this card using Penny Black's transparent set Lost Without You.  This is a great set for Father's Day, but also adapts well to masculine birthdays.  I've stamped the sentiment on a banner cut from Penny Black's creative die set Triple Banner.

Thanks for stopping by.  Would love to see you on the Penny Black blog today.  And you can be sure there will be birthday pictures next week!!

It's Saturday and I'm Having Fun on the Penny Black Blog!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Once again I'm spending time at the Penny Black blog.  Come on over and see what I've been up to.  Hint:  my favorite style!

Before you leave, enjoy this card I made for my husband; we have an anniversary coming up.  This is a Krafty Kat, part of a new release by Penny Black  that includes fun and fun-loving kats who look like they could get into a lot of mischief.

30-241  Good day!
I stamped and embossed and colored this dude with Copics.  Stitched him onto some gingham paper and added a gingham bow.  (What would I do without ribbon?).  These images are quick to color and add a lot of fun to cards for any occasion.  They just went on sale yesterday and you can buy them here.

Have a great weekend!   See you at the Penny Black blog!
